The Sydenham Society was founded in 1972 and has around 1,100 members. We are one of more than 350 civic societies in the UK. Our aim is to be a voice for Sydenham and to make SE26 a better place to live and work.

Sydenham Arts
Sydenham Arts is a registered charity providing arts activities and events all year round from our permanent home and performance space at the Sydenham Centre.

Sydenham Garden
Sydenham Garden is a unique wellbeing centre utilising its gardens, nature reserve and activity rooms to help people in their recovery from mental and physical ill-health in Lewisham.

Sydenham Hill Wood
A unique mix of new and ancient woodland with remnants of Victorian gardens, can be found at the Trust’s oldest nature reserve managed by the London Wildlife Trust.

Sydenham Library
Sydenham Library provides a valuable community resource with a broad selection of books, digital services, and study areas. Managed by Andi and supported by enthusiastic volunteers, the library offers free Wi-Fi, public computers, and a wide range of cultural and educational activities.

Sydenham Town Forum
The Community Voice for London SE26 since 2004. The forum now has over 100,000 posts and nearly 7,000 members.

Affiliated Mastodon/Fediverse open social media instance. Posting and reposting news and views for Sydenham since 2022.

Ignition Brewery & Taproom
Ignition is a testament to the support of our local community and generous sponsors. Our Taproom was opened thanks to your crowdfunding efforts, our brewing kit was sold to us for just £1 (yes, really!) by a keen advocate of our mission and our beer garden was funded by Clearance Capital.

Sport Organisations Serving Sydenham

Sydenham Tennis Club
The club has seven tennis courts – five artificial clay and two tarmacadam – all floodlit. Plus two newly refurbished squash courts available for both squash and racketball. Members can relax after a game in our bar/clubhouse.

South East London Tennis
Feel totally immersed in nature at Sydenham Wells Park. These two courts are tucked away at the side of the park, surrounded by trees.

Crystal Palace Fun Runners
Club run nights are Monday and Wednesday at 7pm. We meet outside Crystal Palace station at 6:50pm.

Crystal Palace Park Run
A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it’s up to you! Nearby Sunday 2k junior parkrun events for 4 to 14 year olds

Penge Cycle Club
With over 600 members aged between 5 and over 70, we have youngsters just starting out, we have some very fast riders who like to race, and we have those who just like to get out into the countryside to find a nice cafe.
